I have read hunger games by Suzanne Collins. Even after reading it a year and a half ago, still I marvel about how powerful and descriptive this book is. I love this books storyline and how it's message gets to you and how you can really understand what is happening. However I think this book got repetitive after about 100 pages. I think that the hunger games got nonchalant towards the end. I like the main character katniss, but I dislike peeta because he isn't a strong character. Overall I think this is a good book and I think anyone should read it.

Nonchalant, huh? Interesting. I did find the level of violence in the book repelling, but I was struck by two things: 1) the disturbing possibility of "merit" awards to states for strength and loyalty to the federal government - what if we sent a seventh grader to Washington every year to fight to the death so that Illinois would get road repairs? and 2)how our current cult of celebrity - the reality show/contest culture makes it all possible/probable.
ReplyDeletePeeta was not supposed to be strong. Peeta was sympathetic, not heroic - at least that's my take. Katniss is the hero or demigod.
Did you continue reading the series?
I really liked this series, but it was pretty predictable after the first book.
